Amazon has at last released Kindle for Mac.  Hooray?  Now you can read your Kindle books on most any device, including one's iPhone, Blackberry, PC and of course the Kindle.

Like the PC version, Kindle for Mac lacks any sort of flair. For instance, page turns occur with the scroll of a mouse, or with arrow keys.  The nice feature is that regardless of what device your read Kindle books on, it stays in sync with any other device authorized for the same account. Notes and bookmarks made on other devices can be viewed, however new ones cannot be created on your Mac or PC.

Text zoom is also an issue. To zoom, you have to open a special panel which can leave a blank “cut-out” in the text after it has been closed.

I'll download it, because a. it's free, and b. I have a Kindle, and will soon have an iPad, which I am still undecided on when it comes out if I will use it as book reader, because I do enjoy the Kindle. Your thoughts? Verizon Wireless has big news for fans of the NFL, the National Football League. Today they have announced they have reached an agreement to show live NFL games on its mobile phones, in, further expanding on its television offerings, which coupled with a possible agreement to sell Apple’s iPhone, could result in a mass exodus of NFL fans from their current smartphone service provider to the one with the red map.

Hooray for Foursquare (if you like it more than Gowalla, and I don’t)!  Yesterday’s announcement of a new Foursquare version for the iPhone just confirms one of the problems I have with the application I consider to be the MySpace of geolocation check in apps, that is they are moving way to fast to grab corporate partnerships and grow their product without paying heed to who uses it and how it is designed. Hopefully Boresquare will get purchased by NewsCorp. and die.

Example.  For a brief period on Friday, the new version, v1.6 was available via the App Store.  Not surprisingly, the app was released too fast, and it has since been pulled back by the “good” folks at Foursquare.  The update was pushed out too early and Foursquare has since pulled the app. On their Twitter feed, the company posted this statement.  Whoops...

When the new version resurfaces, what will it feature?  A a revamped interface, a brand new user tab, and a new check in history view.  Grand...

The UI has been reconfigured from colors, menus and icons, all to make it more appealing to the eye.  Further, users profile screens finally have check in history, and access to friends.  Amazing...

While MySquare gets their act together, Gowalla has taken their time, made a great application, beginning on the iPhone and now rolled out to Android and soon to Blackberry and Palm.  If you haven’t tried Gowalla yet, you should.  It is definitely better and more fun.  The UI is excellent, the trips feature is grand, the spots rarely have to be created (unlike FourSpare where multiple spots may exist, and were apparently created by people who can’t spell and have an utter disregard for grammar), and much, much more. 

Try Gowalla, and if you use either service, feel free to comment in support of, to completely blast, or utterly disregard my opinion.  I’m watching fishing right now and have time to give great thought to your opinions...

If you're a Verizon customer and your phone is having a data connection issue, you are not alone.

Verizon has confirmed that its data is down across the nation.  It doesn't matter if you are using a Droid, Blackberry or other smartphone, so take comfort that your pain can be felt all across that red map so prominently featured in those awesome? commercials.

UPDATE:  According to Verizon, via this tweet, the problem has been corrected.  If you are still having issues, you a. can't see the tweet, and b. need to contact Verizon

Mobile phones, not unlike the one above, do so much for each of us, every day, that being without one is almost akin to living in a world without American Idol.  Unimaginable, I know.

Today's Motorolla Razrs, Blackberries, iPhones, and Android phones allow us to play games, check emails on the go, surf what is known as the "world wide web," take photographs and even capture moving pictures called "video." What the future will hold for phones no one knows, but one thing's for certain, it may involve one's phone replacing 8 things you use today.  Do you agree?

Where problems exist, solutions present themselves.  We’ve all sent text messages featuring pictures of one’s self, shirtless, flexing your guns with a “look at what Michelangelo sculpted” grin on one’s face, sent to someone you thought would never pass them along, or to one’s Grandma (sorry Grandma).  However, if pictures aren’t your thing, what about that explicative-laced diatribe aimed at one’s boss unfortunately sent to one’s boss because your blood pressure was so high it enlarged your fingers and you hit the wrong contact name right before hitting send?

Luckily for you, never me, there’s a new text message application for the iPhone that solves all of YOUR (not mine) problems, called TigerText.

The application lets users set a time limit for text messages, and when the time is up, the messages will self-destruct and be wiped from the original phone, the receiving phone, and the server.  TigerText is one service several famous athletes, stars of High School Musical, proponents of sexting, or your drunk best friend needed and could certainly use in the future.

The app itself is free to try (the first 100 messages in 15 days are free, and it's always free to read messages), and only $1.49 per 250 messages sent per month ($2.49 per month for unlimited messages) after that. Once you've downloaded it, you must sign up for an account and tether it to your phone (it sends a confirmation to your number), and then you can start sending self-destructing messages right away.

TigerText is currently available for the iPhone and iPod Touch (here), and is coming soon to Blackberry and Android platforms.

If you are like me, 1. you use Foursquare, 2. you use Gowalla, 3. you now use Google Buzz, and 4. society at large shuns you because of your hideous appearance, offensive body odor, and overall poor temperament.  If you are also like me, you prefer Gowalla to the aforementioned other Geolocation check in applications, and are lucky enough to have an iPhone on which to use the service.  But Android, and soon Blackberry, users, fret not.  Today's announcement should please you and leave iPhone owners "green" with envy.
