I feel your pain if you own an original iPhone (pictured above).  Why?  Unfortunately you will not be getting the next generation iPhone software updates, and what you have now is what you will have until you decide to trade up from your Apple dinosaur.

Responding to an email from a German iPhone owner to Steve Jobs asking, "Is Apple supporting/updating the iPhone 2G in the Future?" Steve wrote back, "Sorry, no."  R.I.P. Original iPhone...

Will this force you to upgrade if you are still have use of the original iPhone phone or will you get one of the new Microsoft Kin series of phones?  If you say Kin, we want your name, phone number and a picture so we can post it at C4 HQ to make us laugh when life gets us down.
