Google Says What?

Word (pun intended) is that Google is developing a speech to speech translation device. Currently Google has several translation options available, such as Google Translator, its' speech recognition search tool for use on Android and iPhone devices, and Google Voice, which translates voice messages into email and text messages, allowing one to forgo listening to a rambling 2 minute long voicemail. While the aforementioned services are not perfect, they are quite useful. What is Google looking to do with speech to speech translation?
